Japan is……!

Japan is a wild ride and I am feeling totally disoriented.  Unexpectedly I am also on the hook for an expensive ticket home as my return flight out of Taipei was cancelled since I flew in from Canada.  This is a major glitch as the cost of a one way flight from Osaka to Taipei is over $1,000 USD.  It is such a short distance and I can not believe it.  However, Japan is amazing and I am enjoying it here.  The InSEA conference is extremely informative and I am learning a lot.

Today I heard Anna Kindler speak and also attended presentations from other world leaders in visual culture, (Wilson, Manifold, and Tavin).  However, Anna Kindler’s talk was remarkable as she is an elegant speaker.  Not only an eloquent and intellectual speaker but also someone who communicates with class, dignity, humanity, and heart.  That is a tall order and sometimes some self-important keynote speakers can rub me the wrong way.  Even if what they are saying is significant and transformative.  Attending a conference is as much about observing public speaking finesse as it is about informing.  The InSEA conference is fantastic and I hope to attend next year’s event in Brazil.  That is if things can get sorted with that flight!

My presentation is on Friday and yes I am feeling nervous.

Babe, that sucks about your flight. The pets are fine. They are having a lot of fun. Love you and miss you.

Yikes! We were astounded by the cost last year today. Do you collect airmiles? That’s how we got around the expensive ticket prices last year.

I’m a bit late in wishing you luck on your presentation, but I’m sure you were terrific. I’m looking forward to hearing all about it when you get back.
