Photo galleries in Taipei?

This week I would like to check out some contemporary art galleries in Taipei. The problem is that I have not heard of any. Does anyone know of any good local galleries that they would recommend? This week I’ve visited the Taipei Fine Art Gallery and I’ve been to the Contemporary Art Gallery. However I am interested in smaller galleries that feature emerging artists. Know of any good ones?

Thanks!

TIVAC (Taiwan International Visual Arts Center) No. 29, Ln 45, Liaoning Street, Taipei City. It is in the lanes between Civil Boulevard and Nanjing Road, west of Fuxing Road. The exhibitions change once every few months.

Would you believe I discovered this gallery the day after an Ansel Adams exhibition ended? Needless to say, I was wishing I’d found it a week earlier.

Thanks cfimages. I will have to check out Impact Arts soon. If only my PhD term papers would finally be finished.

My frist exhibition last year was at Hung Chong Gallery, 396-1 Ren-ai Rd Sec 4. It’s a commercial gallery and they regularly do photography exhibitions, with perhaps a bias towards birdies and butterflies and flowers, but go have a look and ask for a program.

There’s also an artist run space called “Shin Leh Yuan Art Space” (SLY art), around a 10 minute walk from MOCA. They seem to be showing rather experimental work there and also organize artist talks etc. Pretty sweet!
