This week I finally met Dr. Kuo my Professor for the course Research on Curriculum Development and Evaluation in Art Education at NTNU. Dr. Kuo has been an art educator for over forty years and has a wonderful spirit. Moreover, she fosters deep wisdom and knowledge on issues that are shaping the field globally today.
Dr. Kuo informed me that the Art Education Department organizes outings to several annual global conferences for students and faculty. In past years they have visited America, Latin America, Korea, and the U.K. This year they will be traveling to Osaka, Japan for the InSea Conference. InSEA, the International Society of Education Through Art will be having it’s annual conference in August from the 5th to the 9th. InSEA is an international organization with a global outlook. The theme for this year’s conference is Mind + Media + Heritage. There is a call for papers which begins in January 2008.
Dr. Kuo also recommended attending the NAEA conference. The National Art Education Association is the American association of Art Education. Their conference will be held between March 26-30 in New Orleans. The deadline to submit a paper for the conference has passed, it was on June 30th 2007. The deadline to register for the conference is February 15th 2008.
The Canadian Society of Education Through Art will have its annual conference this year on October 19th and 20th at York University in Toronto. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make it to this year’s conference but would like to make it to their event in 2008. In 2008 I would also like to attend the InSEA conference, a global conference in Beijing China, and the Summit in Taipei from June 5-9. I still need to learn more details about these conferences and will post links once this information becomes available.
