Yesterday I spoke with Carrie on the phone who told me that I had to join Facebook.  She told me I would run into a ton of old friends and would not believe who was on it.  Boy, that was the understatement of the year.  Practically everyone I have ever known, (except my husband of course), is on Facebook.  Even though I had received some invites to join I resisted.  Internet social websites can be tacky.

Ironically, last week at Huafan we discussed Facebook in my Media class which focused on the Time Person of the Year article that underlined the influence of new Internet media.  I told the class that Facebook was great for superficial social connections but was not my thing.  However, after Carrie’s testimonial I decided to join.  Wow!  My cousin form England is on it.  People from high school, my undergrad, its surreal.  At the moment I am looking at Oren Jalon’s photos of Burma.  Wow Oren I’m impressed.

I did the same. I was getting a request a day from friends to join Facebook and finally took the plunge. Imagine my surprise when I saw all my friends from home all gathered there. It was a mighty big welcome and also highly rewarding as I often feel disconnected from home after being away for so long. I’m super glad you’ve joined as well. It’s a virtual party every night. :-0

Jo, I’m so happy you’ve joined Facebook as well. It’s a quick and easy way to stay in touch with other across the miles that seperate us ~ outside of blog sites and emailing. It’s fun, I enjoy seeing your humour reflected in that capacity, my blog is all about the charity whereas on Facebook I can just personalize completely.
    Always a friend,

Thanks Carrie and Sarah. You girls are the best and have been such a positive influence in my life. The past few days have been almost like an out of body experience getting back in touch with people that I have not heard from for years who have inspired a kaleidoscope of different memories and emotions.
