Bangkok Day 2

Today we headed over to Nakhon Pathom to see the Budas of Phra Pathom Chedi.  Unfortunately, only Buddhist monks were able to see the famous 127m tall Buda in the centre of the temple.  However, there were plenty of other gold Budas placed around the temple to view and enjoy.

Next we walked around the local market in search of a restaurant.  Range is restaurant obsessed!  While I am interested in seeing the temples and architecture of Thailand, Range wants the food!  Today we searched and search for two restaurants recommended in the Lonely Planet, both of which were closed.  At Nakhon Pathom we looked for the restaurant on the back of a taxi moped!  At one point three of us, including the driver were all on the damn moped.  I was feeling a bit uneasy, but I knew that Range was loving it.

After getting back to Bangkok we finally made it to Sekhumvit Soi 36, the funky neighborhood that we are staying in.  We found a tasty Asia fusion restaurant and had a wonderful meal.  I ate chicken and curry for the second night in a row.  Range had some shrimp tempura and another chicken dish.  As some of you may recall with my post on getting a bad haircut I have been felling a bit out of sorts about my hair.  Range’s hair has also been very shaggy lately so we decided to go for a hair cut.  We went to this cool salon called ‘Glamour’ that I would highly recommend.  For 300 Bt you cat get the cut of your dreams.  Finally, I let the hairdresser cut a few inches off my hair; it is still long but definitely more even.  I am feeling a lot better.

It is funny how sometimes we can resist change.  For some reason I had stubbornly refused to let go of my super long hair.  It was part of my identity and notion of self concept.  Now that the uneven long hair is gone I feel like I can move forward with a bit more confidence and flair.  Happy Days!
