Over Thanksgiving break I decided to tackle the job of refinishing the hardwood floors which has been an ongoing project this fall.
The floors were stripped of varnish in three steps:

1. Paint the Citrisript paint stripper all over the floors to strip off the first layer of varnish.
2. Apply more abrasive force with the Wagner Paint Eater to remove the next layer of varnish.
3. Lightly sand with the DeWalt orbital sander to acheive a more even finish down to the bare wood.
This process is still not finished and has taken more than six days to complete so far! Keep in mind I am doing this project on my own and there is a learning curve. The Wagner Paint Eater can leave marks in the wood if you are not careful. At first I tried to have the Paint Eater do the whole job but it is more like a Paint Nibbler and can only remove a thin layer of paint or be soon overwhelmed. The DeWalt orbital sander is fantastic and provides continuous even smooth sanding over an entire day.

Here is the floor covered with the Citristrip paint stripper.

The sanded floor. While it may look ready to be stained the sanding is not yet even and I probably have another two or three days work ahead of me.

The uneven sanding. It is a very meticulous job to sand down to the bare wood. You can see demarcations from the Paint Eater.

Our Dyson vacuum which has been overwhelmed throughout this dusty process.
